# Mailings

A mailing is a message that Tribute sends to your audience in their private chat with the bot. It has a title, text, a photo or video, and a button that leads to your subscription or donation.

{% hint style="info" %}
Mailings can be used to:

* nudge those who stopped at the last step to buy;
* bring back unsubscribed users with a special offer or a promo code;
* thank someone for a donation right after the payment;
* announce a new product to your current subscribers.
  {% endhint %}

### Types of mailings

#### **Trigger**

Sent automatically in response to a user’s action — immediately or after a set delay. You set it up once and it keeps working until you turn it off: everyone who performs the chosen action will get the message.

Good for welcome messages, thank-yous and payment reminders — anything that should happen without your involvement.

#### **Manual**

Sent once to everyone who matches the selected conditions at the time it’s sent.

Good for announcements, special offers and news — anything tied to a specific occasion.

### How to create a mailing

1. Go to the “Mailings” section in your Tribute creator dashboard.

2. Choose your audience:

* **“Subscriptions”** — everyone who interacted with your subscriptions to groups, chats and channels: current subscribers, unsubscribed users and those who didn’t complete the payment.
* **“Donations”** — those who sent donations, or opened the payment page but didn’t complete it.

<figure><img src="https://3788573142-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6EICcSNhn5UwhQp1lbwx%2Fuploads%2FJlLzrvH1Xyzni10iB9Hg%2Feng_wiki_2.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=5dcc4852-ae1e-423b-a987-54815e743cb7" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Choose a specific subscription or donation — its audience will receive the message.

<figure><img src="https://3788573142-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6EICcSNhn5UwhQp1lbwx%2Fuploads%2FBjXeYerbiNYBPyArpaQn%2Feng_wiki_3.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=d5b10f4c-5877-4a14-9504-b2925b4b8a13" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. Name your mailing, choose the type and select the recipients:

* **for subscriptions** — unsubscribed, opened the payment page and didn’t pay, subscribers;
* **for donations** — donated before, opened the payment page and didn’t pay, regularly support.

5. Click “Continue” and compose your message:

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="186.9765625">Field</th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Field</strong></td><td><strong>Description</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Title</td><td>Up to 60 characters. This is what users see in their chat list</td></tr><tr><td>Message text</td><td>No length limit</td></tr><tr><td>Subscription or donation</td><td>The product the button leads to. By default it is the one you chose in step 3, but you can replace it with any of your products — for example, offer unsubscribed users a cheaper subscription or ask for a donation. The recipient list won’t change</td></tr><tr><td>Button text</td><td>Your call to action — for example, “Subscribe”, “Come back”, “Donate”. Up to 30 characters</td></tr><tr><td>Upload media for the mailing</td><td>A photo or video, optional. One file up to 50 MB: JPG, JPEG, PNG, MP4, MOV or AVI</td></tr></tbody></table>

6. Review your message in the preview and click “Schedule”.

<figure><img src="https://3788573142-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6EICcSNhn5UwhQp1lbwx%2Fuploads%2FZyTrqdy8Rh3Fq4gCeF3n%2Feng_wiki_6.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=559c463e-ead1-42b7-a100-7a559cc0476b" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

7. For a manual mailing, choose when to send it. Click “Send now” — or turn on “Schedule send” and set a specific date and time.

**Done!** Your mailing has been sent for review.

### What happens after you start a mailing

Every mailing is reviewed before it goes out — this protects subscribers from spam and inappropriate content. More than half of all mailings are reviewed within an hour.

What happens next depends on the type:

* a **trigger** mailing turns on and starts reacting to user actions — everyone who performs the chosen action gets the message after the set delay;
* a **manual** mailing goes out once to everyone who matches the selected conditions.

### How to manage your mailings

All your mailings are collected in the “Mailings” section of your dashboard. Each one shows its status and settings — type, audience and sending time. You can pause a mailing or delete it.

### What subscribers see

The message arrives in the user’s private chat with the Tribute bot. Below your text, Tribute automatically adds a note.

{% hint style="info" %}
For example, this is what the note looks like in a mailing to unsubscribed users:

**Why did you get this mailing?**

You were subscribed to channel: channel name.

**Unsubscribe** from this creator’s mailings.
{% endhint %}

This note is mandatory and cannot be removed — it explains where the message came from. If a user clicks “Unsubscribe”, they stop receiving all mailings from you. It doesn’t affect other creators’ mailings, their channel subscription or their payments.

### What’s important to know

* The message only reaches people who interacted with your product through Tribute and haven’t unsubscribed from your mailings.
* Users who blocked the Tribute bot won’t receive the message.
* The same user can fall into different segments, so don’t launch several similar mailings at once — otherwise they will get several messages in a row.
